File system vs. Database

xPert Web comes in two forms - a "file system" version and a "database" version. The process for saving and reopening a synoptic report is different for each. Here is an easy way to tell which version you have:

When you have a synoptic report open, if you see "Save" and "Submit" in the upper right-hand corner of the screen, you have the database version and should follow the database section of this article. Otherwise, you have the file system version and should follow the file system section of this article.

Save a Synoptic Report in xPert Web (file system)

If you have a partially completed synoptic report in xPert Web, you can save it and finish it later. To start, have your partially-completed synoptic report open:

Then, in the toolbar above, click on "Download Data File" (1). If you are using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, you can see the downloaded file (2) in the bottom-left corner of your browser.

The partially completed synoptic report will be saved in your computer's Downloads folder, or whichever folder you have set as the directory for your web browser's downloaded files:

You can now close xPert Web and finish the synoptic report at a later time.

Re-Open a Synoptic Report in xPert Web (file system)

To open a previously saved synoptic report in xPert Web, log in to xPert Web and click on the blue "Open Existing Synoptic Report" button (1) at the top of the page:

Your computer's file explorer will open. Navigate to your computer's Downloads folder (1), or whichever folder the synoptic report was previously saved to, select the synoptic report (2) you would like to open, and click on the "Open" button (3) in the bottom-right corner of your file explorer:

The synoptic report will open in xPert Web and you can continue filling out the report where you left off:

If you have a partially completed synoptic report in xPert Web, you can save it and finish it later. To start, have your partially-completed synoptic report open:

Then, in the upper-right hand corner, click on "Save" (1) to save your report in its partially-completed state. You will be automatically returned to the home screen and come back to the report later by re-opening it.

Re-Open a Synoptic Report in xPert Web (database)

After you log in, enter the case number (1) of the synoptic report you wish to open under "Case ID." Then, click on the "Open Synoptic Report" button (2) in the upper-right hand corner.

All saved synoptic reports for that case will be listed. Find the report you wish to open, and click on the radio button (1) to the left of the template name. The report will re-open where you left off.
